Maria Gnarra, M.D., 2015 Travel Award recipient, studies lymphatic malformations

I am an M.D., Ph.D. candidate, working on pediatric vascular anomalies and, in particular, lymphatic malformations. Attending the 2015 NIH Lymphatics Symposium was an extraordinary learning experience, which provided a comprehensive overview on the lymphatic system functions and updates on the latest studies in the field.

My goal is to become an independent clinical scientist in the field of vascular anomalies. There is still so much to further investigate in the field of lymphatic research, which makes extremely important to put our efforts in order to identify new cellular and molecular targets for more effective treatment of lymphatic disorders.
