“A Capital (& Regal) Idea!”
Phase 3 – “A Capital (& Regal) Idea!”: for “World Lymphedema Day”, 2019 (WLD2019), the successful Canada-wide promotional campaign was “A Capital Idea!” & drew supportive gestures (proclamations) from Canada’s Community of Capital City Mayors. Canada has a federal Capital plus ten provincial Capitals.
“A Capital (& Regal) Idea!”, was the domestic sequel-campaign that sought renewed attention plus recognition for the “Lymphedema Community” members who call Canada “home”. Because Canada remains a constitutional monarchy, the Crown is Canada’s Head of State. Canada’s Vice Regal is our embodiment of the Queen (of Canada) … so, the WLD2020 campaign extended to the Regal presence in Canada, i.e. the Governor General plus the ten Lieutenant Governors.
As at early March, “gestures” (certificates of Declaration, Proclamation, or Recognition) have been graciously received on behalf of the “Lymphedema Community” & liberally promoted / posted / shared, notably via FB page “Lymphedema – LE Nexus Canada”. In the stead of Lieutenant Governors, who have been supportive, some provinces have made their public expressions by way of their respective governments, i.e. the Premier or Minister of Health. Additionally, other commitments are for social media activity on WLD… plus illumination of official buildings (Government House, in several cases).
