Giornata Mondiale di Consapevolezza sul Linfedema edizione 2020

Roma, Italy
Already since 1994, in America, the Day of Awareness on Lymphedema was celebrated on March 6 of each year. In 2016, a group of doctors organized internationally decided to promote synchronized action between America, India and Europe to increase the scope of the event.

Despite the initial difficulties from different parts of the world, the need for a concordance of dates to publicly express the need to make the world aware of an often neglected pathology and obtain visibility exactly as it had happened for so many other pathologies that in this way they had become known to the general public.

An online petition was then made on the international date (1) and, with 5222 supporters, in 2016 the American Senate with the special support of Senators Charles Schumer and Chuck Grassley, declared World Lymphedema Day on 6 March each year.

After the approval in the State Regions Conference of September 15, 2016 of the “Guidelines on Lymphedema and related pathologies” and the approval of the LEA of January 13, 2017, the Association of Patients and people in solidarity with them SOSLINFEDEMA Onlus celebrates the 6 March of each year the WORLD AWARENESS DAY on LYMPHEDEMA, with public events that have the purpose of disseminating and informing about the pathology. A delegation from the ITALF (Italian Lymphoedema Framework) association of which SOSLINFEDEMA is a member is always invited to these events.
