WOW2025 — “X” edition #MoveThatLymph Challenge for WLD … Canadian style!
In tribute to & recognition of edition “X” (#10) of THE day, OUR day, on the annual calendar of the global “Lymphedema Community”, active Advocate-at-Large “Lymphedema - Guerrilla Warrior General” (LymphoGWG) will *miraculously* Walk On Water (WOW) for “X” miles during daily glides along the world’s largest ice rink, the Rideau Canal Skateway in Canada’s Capital, Ottawa.
Rarely is the natural-ice Skateway season open very far into March (Lymphedema Awareness Month), so to accomplish a full Lymphedema-month’s worth of mileage, the 31-days of moving that lymph on ice is already underway. That stated, with this year’s Skateway season already the longest in several years, the total logged distance (skated) should be encouragingly high — the goal is 31 days of “X” miles for 310 total miles (~500 km). For those more “metrically inclined” the alternate & more ambitious target’s total is 55 (the 55th year of the Skateway) times “X” kilometres for 550 total kilometres (340+ miles).
[Note: only acts of God (LE-related health challenges, winter storms or inclement weather for the natural ice surface, or in-person Lymphedema / “World Lymphedema Day” advocacy efforts) will limit the active Skateway pursuits of this longtime advocate & longer-time afflictee with a complex presentation of primary/hereditary LE. Plus, acting like a moving billboard for “the cause” of the fight versus Lymphedema (LE) & other lymphatic diseases (LDs), LymphoGWG will be attired in advocacy gear.]
