Recognized as the premier source for Lymphedema Management Certification since 1994, the Academy of Lymphatic Studies (ACOLS) is one of the leading schools in the United States for training medical professionals and therapists around the world. ACOLS was founded by Joachim Zuther, who is the author of the textbook, “Lymphedema Management”. In addition, Mr. Zuther was also the founder of the prestigious Department of Lymphology at the Ulmkolleg in Ulm, Germany.
ACOLS nationally renowned faculty is lead by ACOLS’ Director of Education, Marina Maduro PT, DPT, WCC, CLT-ALM, LANA. Ms. Maduro received her doctoral degree in 2011 from Shenandoah University in Virginia and her BA in Physical Therapy in 1988 from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Additionally, Ms. Maduro is licensed as a DPT and was certified as a wound specialist by the National Alliance of Wound Care in 2004. She specializes in wound care, lymphedema therapy, and vascular rehabilitation. Added to this is Ms. Maduro’s extensive experience in management and leadership.
ACOLS sees its mission as promoting the highest professional standards for health care practitioners. This is accomplished through professional competence and promoting the quality and integrity of continuing educations to practitioners in the field of lymphedema management. ACOLS’ primary objective is to provide the highest quality of education in Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) while advancing the availability, quality, use and support of lymphedema management techniques through standard settings, terminology, education, and research.
