USAID conducting filariasis drug study for treatment of LE

For World Lymphedema Day, a USAID-supported project created a video focused on their current drug study to treat lymphedema (LE) associated with mosquito-borne infection. An estimated 250 million people worldwide live with LE. In tropical areas, lymphatic filariasis is a major cause of the disease.

LE&RN maintains that by bringing the world together in a collective fight against lymphedema and lymphatic diseases, we exponentially increase the opportunities to find new treatments and cures. We applaud our colleagues at USAID and proudly share their video with you.

Seeking military personnel with LE potentially related to service in or around "Burn Pits"

LE&RN is fighting to get the Department of Defense and Veteran’s Administration to increase research and services impacting military personnel. Last year, LE&RN told Congress that over 60,000 military personnel had been exposed to toxic chemicals emanating from the burn pits of Iraq and Afghanistan. Thousands of these veterans are now reporting burn-pit-related ailments such as cancer. LE&RN will bring this issue directly to Congress, CDC, NIH, and VA. If you, or someone you know, is in the military and has been diagnosed with LE that is potentially related to service in the vicinity of the burn pits, we want to hear from you. To learn more about this issue, read the March letter from President & CEO William Repicci.
