February 2021

From William Repicci, President & CEO

While the realities of the global pandemic continue to present us with new challenges, our community has rallied and, in fact, our efforts have only intensified.

World Lymphedema Day 2021 is next week. This year, a Virtual Global Celebration will be held on March 6, and I invite every one of you to join us. All ticket sales directly benefit LE&RN's global programming.

Advocacy efforts continue and have garnered more interest from lawmakers as well as new and veteran activists. We are not slowing down in demanding that lymphatic diseases, at long last, receive the attention they deserve. Please don't sit on the sidelines. National Action Week is March 22-26 and you can participate from home.

LE&RN's LymphWalks will not be held in person for the foreseeable future, but that doesn't mean that we aren't on the move. Sign up today and run or walk wherever you are.

As always, we thank LE&RN’s 2021 Corporate Sponsors as well as Supporting Members. Our progress would not be possible without their support.

I am pleased to present the February edition of Lymphedema & Lymphatic Disease Matters.

Join us for a World Lymphedema Day Virtual Global Celebration

On March 6, LE&RN will present a very special global celebration in honor of World Lymphedema Day—all online. The event will be hosted by LE&RN Spokesperson Kathy Bates and will feature the premiere performance of the one-act play Let's Talk Lymphedema by Brian Daniels, based on the book Let's Talk Lymphedema by Professor Peter Mortimer and Gemma Levine. The play will be directed by Mark Armstrong in association with The 24 Hour Plays and will feature actor and LE&RN Honorary Board Member Steve Guttenberg. This event is generously sponsored by Juzo. All ticket sales directly benefit LE&RN's global fight against lymphedema and other lymphatic diseases.

Sign up for National Action Week 2021, March 22-26

We need all LE&RN Supporters in the U.S. to join us for this year's all-virtual National Action Week, March 22-26. Last summer's efforts led to enormous progress and we simply cannot afford to stop now. Read about what's at stake. Then sign up to be a LE&RN Advocate. No experience is necessary. All that is needed is the willingness to tell your Congressional representatives why you care about those living with lymphedema and other lymphatic diseases. And this year, you can participate from home. Together, we will create a better future for our community.

Join the Global Virtual Run/Walk to Fight Lymphatic Diseases, Saturday, April 17

LE&RN LymphWalks have become an annual tradition that LE&RN's board, staff, members, and other supporters look forward to, celebrating our successes and committing to continuing the fight. While we cannot safely come together in person this year, we will still be walking, and sometimes running, for the cause. This year, our Run/Walk will be a global event and participants can run or walk wherever they choose anytime before April 17.
