From William Repicci, President & CEO
We conclude another eventful month on #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving set aside to support the causes we care about. If you care about fighting lymphatic diseases such as lymphedema, lipedema, and lymphatic anomalies, take a moment to make a donation, of any size, to LE&RN, either through a Facebook fundraiser (LE&RN's is here) or at CureLymph.org. Your gift today will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, because of a generous match pledge made by LE&RN Supporters Ian Laming and Stephanie Free.
November 12-13, LE&RN hosted the State-of-the-Art Lymphatic Medicine Virtual Summit. Over 500 participants came together from dozens of countries around the world. Our thanks to all those who made this a hugely successful event.
My thanks also to all the organizers of the November 5-6 Boston Lymphatic Clinical Symposium, where I was honored to introduce keynote speaker Dr. Zorina Galis (NIH/NHLBI) and serve as a moderator on the Centers of Excellence session. Dr. Dhruv Singhal of the Boston Lymphatic Center began the Symposium with a tribute to LE&RN Director, Pamela Ross, who passed away from COVID in 2020. And finally, my gratitude to Dr. Christine Moffitt who invited me to deliver a talk entitled The Advent of Lymphedema's Modern Era at the International Lymphedema Framework conference November 18-20 held both virtually and in-person in Copenhagen.
The Gordon Research Conference: Lymphatics will be held from February 27 to March 4 in Italy. LE&RN is offering Travel Awards for young investigators. We are also now accepting nominations for the Lifetime Achievement Award as well as the Career Achievement Award. See the newsletter for more information, including applications and deadlines.
As President & CEO of LE&RN, I thank you for your ongoing support, which makes our progress possible. I am pleased to present you with the November edition of Lymphedema & Lymphatic Disease Matters.
