Each year, at the New York Walk to Fight Lymphedema & Lymphatic Diseases, LE&RN bestows its Impact Award to honor a dynamic community leader who has excelled in championing our cause. This year, we honor Jonathan Ross, President of Bio Compression Systems, Inc., a U.S. manufacturer of pneumatic compression devices.

Jonathan proved to be an avid early supporter of LE&RN. However, beyond his company's financial sponsorship, he was determined to help grow LE&RN's impact by tirelessly introducing industry leaders to our organization. This has resulted in several new corporate partnerships for LE&RN.

He has also demonstrated an extraordinary generosity for lymphedema patients in need of treatment. Last year, when Medicare coverage changes threatened to negatively impact lymphedema and chronic venous insufficiency patients, Jonathan moved to action. He worked on developing a website to communicate the proposed changes and organize citizen action. He talked with LE&RN about the issues and worked with LE&RN to educate the lymphatic disease community.

Jonathan graduated from Lehigh University in 1991 with a B.S. in Marketing and has been involved with manufacturing for 24 years. Much of his career was spent working for a company that produced executive gifts, travel accessories, and sporting goods equipment. Jonathan lived in Hong Kong for five years with his wife PJ overseeing the production side of his company where he worked with over 110 different factories in China, Taiwan, and Pakistan. One of the key tasks he had while living overseas was assuring that the best possible quality came out of each factory.

Jonathan joined Bio Compression Systems in January 2013 to grow the company, maintain the same level of quality that Bio Compression has always been known for, and most importantly, to help people. Jonathan has focused on people with lymphedema, chronic venous insufficiency, and peripheral arterial disease since his arrival at Bio Compression, which is how he found LE&RN. When Jonathan met LE&RN Executive Director Bill Repicci, he recognized the tremendous synergies between the two organizations.

'While Bio Compression Systems seeks to reach out to the lymphedema community," Jonathan told LE&RN, "we can achieve so much more by supporting LE&RN. The staff at Bio Compression Systems is continually amazed by the ground LE&RN has conquered in bringing awareness and a face to lymphedema in America. We are proud to be partners with LE&RN and plan to be at LE&RN's side for many years to follow."
