From coast to coast and in between — it's LymphWalk season!
The next #LymphWalk is this Sunday, June 2, at Sloan’s Lake Park in Denver, Colorado. (CO #LymphWalk organizers and CO Chapter Co-Chairs Marie Apodaca and Angela Marquez pictured above.) Bianca Curtiss-Schmidt, an 11-year old with the Colorado Children’s Chorale, will sing the National Anthem at the opening ceremony. This will also feature speaker Lily Daniali, M.D., a board-certified plastic surgeon practicing in Englewood, Colorado. Dr. Daniali is currently an attending physician with the Burn and Reconstructive Centers of Colorado and is co-director of the Center for Lymphatic Restoration at the Swedish Medical Center. The Massachusetts Chapter (pictured at left), in partnership with BIDMC/Harvard Medical School Hospitals, hosted its first Run/Walk in Artesani Park in Boston on May 18. Hundreds of supporters gathered to raise over $29K. LE&RN's Impact Award was presented to Dr. Dhruv Singhal, Director of Lymphatic Surgery at BIDMC. Along with Dr. Singhal's Chapter support, he was instrumental in establishing the Lymphedema Symposium at BIDMC/Harvard and critical to initiating LE&RN's Centers of Excellence project.
LE&RN California hosts its Run/Walk in Santa Monica on June 23, and the original LymphWalk will mark its 10-year anniversary on October 19 in New York City. LE&RN Spokesperson Kathy Bates addresses ASBrS
On Saturday, May 4, LE&RN Spokesperson Kathy Bates delivered a powerful keynote to 2,000 surgeons at the meeting of the American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS) in Dallas, TX, sharing the story of her battle with cancer and lymphedema. Also in attendance was LE&RN President and CEO William Repicci, who introduced Ms. Bates and offered LE&RN's 7-credit Lymphatic-Vascular CME course to ASBrS members free of charge. LE&RN and NAVBO co-presented Lymphatic Forum 2019, Exploring the Lymphatic Continuum, May 30-June 1, 2019, at the AT&T Conference Center, Austin, Texas. Through a grant from the McDowell Family in honor of their daughter Colette who was born with a rare lung disease called pulmonary lymphangiectasia, LE&RN sponsored 20 $500 Travel Awards for young investigators to the Forum. Juzo generously sponsored four poster presentation awards (one $1,000 US currency and three $500 US currency) for the best research posters at the Forum. LE&RN President & CEO William Repicci addressed attendees.
2nd annual USC Symposium, Saturday, 6/8, Santa Monica
