November 2020

From William Repicci, President & CEO

As we near the end of 2020, we reflect on accomplishments. We launched Centers of Excellence which received a prestigious Stavros Niarchos Foundation grant, we made progress on Capitol Hill through our Action Week that drew hundreds of activists, we held our first online Physician CME Seminar for State-of-the-Art Lymphatic Medicine, and provided guidance to the lymphatic disease community as we faced a global health crisis.

We must also take stock of how difficult this year has been. Many LE&RN events, so important for community building and fundraising, had to be postponed or modified. Many of our traditional sources of funding became disrupted. As a result, we have had to turn, more than ever before, to our grassroots community. To those of you who have risen to this occasion, thank you. You will help us move forward in 2021. If you still have not shown your commitment to this fight at this moment, please support LE&RN's year-end fundraising efforts. This Tuesday is #GivingTuesday, a perfect time to come together to voice our support and commitment to fighting lymphatic diseases through education, research, and advocacy. On #GivingTuesday, no action is too small but I do urge you to act.

I am pleased to present the November edition of Lymphedema & Lymphatic Disease Matters.

Stand with LE&RN on #GivingTuesday, December 1

This Tuesday, December 1, is #GivingTuesday, a global day set aside for giving back. It relies on the idea that if we come together as a community we can achieve great things. So we are asking you to participate in this day with LE&RN, in whatever way fits your situation and budget.

How to participate:

  1. RSVP to LE&RN's #GivingTuesday event page;

  2. share social media posts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram;

  3. make a donation, of whatever size, to LE&RN's #GivingTuesday fundraiser or to a personal fundraiser benefiting LE&RN (listed on our Facebook event page).

All donations made to LE&RN through year-end will be doubled thanks to a generous matching gift offer from LE&RN Supporters Ian Laming and Stephanie Free. And, on #GivingTuesday, LE&RN is eligible for additional matching funds directly from Facebook. To have the best chance for a Facebook match, we urge supporters to make donations just as the match window opens at 8am ET on Tuesday, December 1.

Thank you for making this #GivingTuesday a success, allowing LE&RN to continue fighting lymphatic diseases in 2021 and beyond.
