October 2020

From William Repicci, President & CEO

October was a month that continued to build on LE&RN's momentum. We hosted the "State-of-the-Art Lymphatic Medicine" Virtual Summit, which drew nearly 600 participants from dozens of countries. We began accepting Letters of Intent for additional Centers of Excellence. And LE&RN was named a finalist for a RareVoice Award, while our Texas Youth Ambassador Zachary Berger was named a RareVoice Teen Advocate finalist.

We received crucial financial support  — LE&RN supporters Ian Laming and Stephanie Free will match our year-end fundraising efforts, up to $50,000. We must fully utilize this match if we are to continue making strides against lymphedema, lipedema, lymphatic malformations, and other lymphatic diseases. We are asking you, our most loyal supporters, to ensure that we can meet our year-end goals and continue to pursue our shared agendas.

I am pleased to present the October edition of Lymphedema & Lymphatic Disease Matters. We thank you for your partnership as we stay committed to the fight against lymphatic diseases.

Annual Appeal

Thanks to a generous matching gift offer from LE&RN Supporters Ian Laming and Stephanie Free, every dollar you donate to LE&RN will be doubled up to $50,000 from now through year-end.

Double your impact for LE&RN today

Those matching funds will boost our #GivingTuesday impact as well. Please make a donation (however small) to the LE&RN #GivingTuesday Facebook fundraiser or consider setting up your own fundraiser benefiting LE&RN. A few fundraisers this month included an offer, by the fundraiser, to match donations. This is easy to do on Facebook and can increase a fundraiser's effectiveness. Download LE&RN's #GivingTuesday Facebook banner for your fundraiser. And follow our #GivingTuesday event page. We'll be promoting fundraisers there.

Centers of Excellence accepting Letters of Intent

In 2018, LE&RN took on the challenge of developing standards for LE&RN Centers of Excellence in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Lymphatic Diseases (LD). There are now 25 such Centers around the world (see a complete list here).

Institutions interested in receiving this designation are now invited to submit an online Letter of Intent by December 1, 2020. See LE&RN's Centers of Excellence webpage for detailed information on how to submit this initial Letter of Intent online. Questions can be directed to LE&RN will then invite selected institutions to complete full COE applications.
