My experience with lymphedema is with my 8-year-old son. When he was 9 months old I brought his leg swelling to the attention of his pediatrician. She misdiagnosed him, calling his condition hemihyperplasia. It wasn't until about a year ago that we found out through an MRI that he has primary lymphedema of his left leg, pelvis, and genitals. He is now seeing a physical therapist and improving. His left leg is still considerably larger than his right, but the swelling has decreased and his tissue is softening. We're doing the best we can to manage his symptoms with garments and PT. I am trying to learn as much as possible about his condition and managing his symptoms.
