I was diagnosed with lymphedema when I was 6 months old. I have it on my right arm and hand. My doctors told me they didn't know a lot about it and I was given some tools to manage my condition. I am now 32 years old and not much has changed in terms of progress in treating lymphedema. I have gotten better at using my pump and compression and that has helped but the daily struggle of trying to keep the swelling down is still present. Now I also struggle with neck and back pain because of the extra weight on one side of my body. I am not able to work because of the amount of pain I am in constantly, my fingers can swell up to be pretty big if I let them. I spend hours every day on my pump. Sometimes I can't even make a fist and it hurts to move my fingers. Lymphedema has affected every part of my life. A cure would mean everything to me.
