The Israel Chapter is celebrating World Lymphedema Day by displaying posters, distributing information, and manning booths in health fund clinics, offices and other health-related facilities. The posters and fliers refer anyone interested, with leg or arm edema, to appropriate medical services, and state clearly that our National Health Law enables participation in costs. Our volunteers at the booths also answer questions and refer visitors to the appropriate medical service.

Israel Association/ Chapter raise LE awareness at the Sea of Galilee Marathon

Israel Association/ Chapter raise LE awareness at the Sea of Galilee Marathon

On January 4, 2019 Israel held the Annual Sea of Galilee Marathon. This year, our volunteers from the Israel Lymphedema Association manned a stand to provide bottles of cold water and fresh fruit for the runners along the shore. The volunteers wore bright t-shirts written with the words "Leg Edema? There's a solution! Lymphatic physical therapy! Run with it ... Israel Lymphedema Association". Lots of positive feedback was received.

Hawaii State Governor, David Ige proclaims March 6th as World Lymphedema Day

Hawaii State Governor, David Ige proclaims March 6th as World Lymphedema Day

Making waves in Hawaii….

I am delighted to report that Hawaii State Governor, David Ige has proclaimed March 6th as World Lymphedema Day! The Proclamation Ceremony took place at the Hawaii State Capital on Feb 15th at 9:30am and was attended by cancer / LE survivor, and body surfing champion Mikey Wolper, and fellow lymphatic therapists. We all wore teal and white orchid leis, teal ribbons. Governor Ige was presented with an everlasting teal Kukui nut lei. Like many others, our Governor had not heard of LE/LD and was shocked that it affects so many people worldwide. The ceremony was also attended by the Hawaii Executive Director of  the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation, the President of the Hawaii Chapter of American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), family and friends, all of whom wish to help towards getting LE/LD recognized, treated, and help raise money for a cure. This year I will be helping to promote March 6th at several LE/LD clinics throughout the Hawaiian Islands to raise public awareness and educate clinicians about these diseases.

Aloha! Ellie

NYC Cabaret Event not to be missed! What About Us? Living With Lymphedema ~ Her Story, Our Fight

Making lymphedema (LE) and lymphatic diseases  (LD) a national priority requires engaging the public in a way that helps them understand the impact these diseases. The arts remain a most powerful way to share such a  story, and Tina Himaya does just this with her breakthrough musical, What About Us? Living with Lymphedema. Do yourself a favor - go, and bring your loved ones with you." —William Repicci
