The National Indicator Report on Cancer-Related Lymphedema (LE) provides the state of lymphedema knowledge and care in the United States and addresses the shortage of public health data regarding lymphedema's impact on patients, families, and society.
Leading experts advocate for research into the physical, mental, and economic burdens of lymphedema, emphasizing the urgent need to address key indicators such as epidemiology, access to care, health disparities, transition in care, and the historical neglect of the lymphatic system in medical education.
We are proud to introduce the Standardized Approach for the Diagnosis and Management of Lymphedema (LE) and Lymphatic Diseases (LD). Developed by global experts in collaboration with LE&RN, this pioneering guide aims to improve the early detection and treatment of lymphatic diseases, enhancing the quality of life for millions worldwide through knowledge sharing and education.
This first-of-its-kind collaboration provides healthcare professionals with guidelines for preventive measures and delivering consistent and effective care to individuals living with lymphatic diseases.
Gaps in the Field of Lymphatic Research originated from the Yet to Be Charted: Lymphatic System in Health and Disease research workshop at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in September 2022. Presenters at the workshop identified knowledge gaps and opportunities in lymphatic research. LE&RN reported their findings in this document and has updated it annually in collaboration with lymphatic experts to distribute to key health organizations, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), and the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP).
