"LE&RN and its members have been advocating to unlock the Department of Defense Peer-Reviewed Medical Research Program (PRMRP) so that lymphatic researchers can apply for research funding through this program that dispenses nearly $400 million in grants annually. We have made our case that lymphedema and lymphatic diseases disproportionately impact service personnel. In July, we had a breakthrough when U.S. Senators Kirsten Gillibrand (NY) and Dianne Feinstein (CA) forwarded a letter making this request to the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Defense. Please read the Senators' letter below (PDF version also available) to Committee Chairman Senator John Tester and Ranking Member Senator Richard Shelby. This is the kind of progress that is a direct result of our community's activism."—William Repicci, LE&RN President & CEO
