Description:
About the speaker: Symposium presenter, Dr. Philip Brazio, is a board-certified plastic surgeon and fellowship-trained microsurgeon specializing in breast, lymphatic, and extremity reconstruction as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He completed his medical degree and General Surgery residency at the University of Maryland and Shock Trauma Center. During his residency he devoted two years to the clinical and laboratory study of face transplant immunology with Dr. Eduardo Rodriguez. He completed his Plastic Surgery residency at the University of Southern California and LA County Medical Center, capped with a fellowship in microvascular and supermicrosurgical lymphatic reconstruction at Stanford University. Dr. Brazio combines physiologic reconstruction techniques, including lymphovenous anastomosis and vascularized lymph node transfer, with traditional volume reduction modalities such as liposuction to achieve meaningful improvement for patients. He has published widely in high impact peer-reviewed journals, and his current research focuses on optimizing extremity reconstruction and lymphedema surgery outcomes. Dr. Brazio is a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Plastic Surgery, and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He actively advocates for patient access to lymphatic surgery through the American Society of Plastic surgeons’ Coding and Payment Policy Committee, and through the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery.
