A new study is available through the University of Missouri-Columbia (MU) for breast cancer survivors who have been diagnosed with lymphedema. It uses interactive theatre and printed information compared to printed information alone to test whether an interactive approach is more effective than printed information alone in helping women stick to their lymphedema self-management regimens.
The study will divide participants into two groups. One group will get printed information about lymphedema and the other will get printed information AND attend an interactive theatre performance about lymphedema. There is a baseline on-site (MU) visit at the beginning of the study, with the addition of one group also attending the interactive theatre performance. Other than the baseline visit and the theatre performance, the study is conducted by mail. Eighteen more participants are needed for the study.
